Two-year-olds

Today my youngest grandson had a holiday performance at his school. The two-year-olds were so cute dressed in their holiday sweaters, dresses, and reindeer antlers. Some of the children really got into singing the songs. Others just looked out at the audience. Some left the stage and ran to their parents for a quick hug before returning to the group of children. I think my face stayed frozen in a smile for the entire 15 minutes they sang and danced. That kind of pure innocence is just not something you can frown at.

Photos were taken, and cookies were shared. Parents and grandparents filed out of the auditorium with their two-year-olds in tow. I came home humming the holiday songs I had heard during the brief performance.

Taking a nap was on the schedule once we returned home. He quickly fell into a deep sleep as I rocked him. I loved looking at his sweet face as it relaxed in sleep.

Re-energized from his nap he and his mommy went outside to play once she got home from work. I loved seeing them together. He ran around the yard with such abandon. Joy on his face as he raised his little arms into the wind.

I will go to sleep tonight dreaming of the line of little “reindeer” on that stage today. Hope I wake up filled with their Christmas spirit.

This is the image of a reindeer which reminded me of the two-year-olds I saw today.
